The Ontario government has recently introduced Childhood Budgets for children with autism and their families. Childhood Budgets are available for all children with a diagnosis of autism up to age 18. Childhood Budgets provide families with direct funding so they can access a broader range of eligible services that they believe are most helpful for their child and family from the providers of their choice.

The total amount of the Childhood Budget will depend on how long your child is in the program. Children under the age of six are eligible to receive $20,000 annually in direct funding, while those six and over are eligible to receive $5,000 annually.

  • How can DirectFunded help me?

DirectFunded can help you manage your child’s direct funding by taking care of all the required bookkeeping, payment, remittances, and reports. We will support you through the required financial management, which can often be cumbersome and time-consuming, to allow you to focus on finding the best supports for your child and to ensure that you get the most out of your Childhood Budget.

  • How much does DirectFunded cost me?

Up to 10% of the annual Childhood Budget amount can be used toward individualized family service planning and support. This includes managing administrative supports specifically related to the Childhood Budget such as bookkeeping, payroll, and reporting.

In other words, the cost of DirectFunded is fully covered by the Childhood Budget amount.
